Distinctive rounded edges and corners characterize the wooden products for home and playroom crafted by Camden Rose, Palumba’s parent company. Other woodworkers construct wooden products with straight lines and edges;, but we remove the sharp corners and edges with a radial curve. This involves extra finishing work and a lot more sanding — but the overall effect is worth the effort. The gentle edge and corner curves create a softer look and feel – a key element in the Camden Rose style.
Camden Rose has long-standing, collaborative relationships with the woodworkers and crafts people who make our products. We work with one family in the heart of Amish country because they embrace our unique woodworking style and understand our nontoxic glue, finishing and quality requirements. Each family member, along with their community of specialty woodworkers, plays a special role in completing our toys.
Two groups of woodworkers make components for our toys. One specializes in making wood panels which allows us to add details we love – like combining a strip of walnut wood alongside cherry or maple wood, another element of our signature Camden Rose style. Another group makes all of the wood components that require a CNC machine. When complete, the wood panels and components are returned to the craftsmen who construct our wooden products. Once cut, routed, sanded, glued, and assembled, each toy or dish is given a final sanding. These are then finished with our Three BEEautiful Bees Original Wood Polish, which is made with food grade mineral oil and local beeswax.
Other woodworkers produce our cherry rattles and maple teethers, which are finished in-house with organic jojoba oil.
Manufacturing large numbers of specially designed toys from local and organic hardwoods is a long, involved process. The end result — our beautiful wooden Camden Rose products — is well worth the effort. We are thankful to work with such a large number of skilled and talented American woodworkers, all of whom use locally sourced hardwoods in their craft.
